New £10,000 grants available to help Brackley businesses improve and grow
Independent businesses in Brackley can once again apply for grants of up to £10,000 as a town centre improvement scheme reopens with increased funding and expanded eligibility.
West Northamptonshire Council (WNC), in partnership with Brackley Town Council, has launched a second round of the Brackley Town Centre Grants scheme, which aims to help businesses improve their premises, attract more customers and boost the town centre economy.
Funded through the Section 106 Brackley Town Fund, the scheme supports projects that enhance the appearance and historic character of the town while encouraging investment and increasing footfall.
Following the success of the first funding round, the council has introduced a number of changes designed to make the grants more accessible.

Businesses can now apply for up to 80 per cent match funding for shopfront improvements and external upgrades, meaning applicants only need to contribute the remaining 20 per cent of project costs. Funding for internal refurbishments, new services and other business improvements will continue to be available on a 50 per cent match-funded basis.
For the first time, the scheme has also been opened to new businesses planning to establish themselves in Brackley town centre. In addition, pre-application planning advice fees will be waived for projects supported through the grant scheme.
Funding can be used for shopfront improvements, accessibility works, internal refurbishments, essential equipment and the introduction of new products or services designed to increase footfall and sales.
Councillor Kamala Guliyeva, WNC's cabinet member for local economy, culture and leisure, said: "We're really pleased to reopen the Brackley Town Centre Grants scheme following the strong interest in the first round of funding.
"We've introduced several changes to make the scheme even more accessible and help local businesses make the improvements that matter most to them.
"Independent businesses help give Brackley its unique character, and these grants will support them to enhance their premises, grow their offer and contribute to a town centre that residents and visitors can continue to enjoy and be proud of."
Brackley town clerk Kathy Hale said the funding would help businesses invest in improvements that may previously have been out of reach.
She added: "With operating costs remaining high, this scheme offers a valuable opportunity for businesses to invest in their future while making our town centre even more attractive for residents and visitors alike."
Applications are assessed quarterly by a grant decision panel made up of representatives from WNC and Brackley Town Council. The funding is discretionary and subject to eligibility and availability, with franchise businesses excluded from the scheme.
