Fifty-two percent of Chron readers think Boris Johnson has handled coronavirus crisis 'well'

But 46% of people who answered our survey disagree

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the UK government have handled the Covid-19 outbreak well, according to 52% of people who completed the Chronicle & Echo lockdown survey.

The survey was carried out over the Bank Holiday weekend and was completed by around 500 people.

The figures show that 16% thought they had handled the situation "very well" and 36% said "somewhat well". However, 16% said the Prime Minister and the Government had handled the situation "not very well" and 30% said "not at all well". The remainder said don't know.

In comparison, 21% said Nicola Sturgeon and the Scottish government had handled the situation "very well" and 45% "somewhat well". A total of 13% said "not very well" and 6% said "not at all well".

Looking at the messaging around Stay Alert, 21% said it was "very clear", 19% said "slightly clear" but 27% said "not very clear" and 31% said "not at all clear".
