Have your say on these 16 plans to improve Northampton using share of up to £25m

A new coach station on Greyfriars? Make flats out of M&S and BHS? Maybe a craft stall colonnade off Market Square?

How would you use £25m to improve Northampton town centre?

How about a new coach station on Greyfriars? Or make flats out of the empty M&S and BHS units on Abington Street? Maybe create a craft stall colonnade off Market Square?

A consultation is open on what the borough council should pledge to improve when they put a bid to the Government for up to £25m.

The consultation is open here: https://survey.websurveycreator.com/s/townsfundconsultation.

Residents have until September 27 to have their say on which projects should come first.

See the Chronicle & Echo's gallery below to see a preview of all the proposals available for residents to comment on.

It's called the Towns Fund and it means the council has been asked to produce a Town Investment Plan with their long-term vision for Northampton..

Now, the council has launched a consultation and is inviting residents to look at 16 proposals they have for the town and ask if they think they are important or what they would change.

They are focused on creating new flats, building office space and improving the appearance of the town for all residents, as well as ambitious plans such as redeveloping the Greyfriars site.

Councillor Jonathan Nunn, leader of Northampton Borough Council and Chair of the Northampton Forward board, said: “This is an exciting time for Northampton as we have a huge potential to deliver re-invention with significant investment opportunities for the town coming forward.

“It is vital that the public get to have their say with ideas that will directly shape the future of Northampton and play a part in this grant bidding process, as we take this once in a lifetime opportunity to transform Northampton and make the town the best it can be for generations to come."
