Guildhall chiefs revealeld Covid-19 is still having an impact on its services after areas of Northampton missed out on food waste collections this week.

But Northampton Borough Council's waste and recycling service revealed Covid-19 is still causing issues with staffing levels as some of the workforce are forced to self-isolate either with symptoms of their own or following contact with someone who is infected.

A council spokesman said: "We are working closely with our partner Veolia to minimise the impact of coronavirus on recycling and waste services, street cleaning and other key environmental services.

“We have managed to maintain the vast majority of waste collection services in extremely challenging circumstances during the past three months.

"As coronavirus continues to have an impact, we must make the best use of our workforce capacity and this periodically means suspending the occasional round.

"In areas where this happens, residents are able to re-present the uncollected waste the following week."
