Police have confirmed they are investigating the "sudden and unexplained death" of a man in his 40s at a Northampton medical unit on Tuesday morning (May 18).

Locals reported paramedics and a number of police vehicles seen going in and out of St Matthews Healthcare in Kingsley from around 7am.

A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman later confirmed: “We were called to reports of the sudden death of a man in his 40s inside a property in St Matthew’s Parade, Northampton.

“We are currently treating his death as unexplained and fast-track enquiries are progressing to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding it.”

St Matthews Healthcare provides nursing care and long-term rehabilitation for people with severe mental health problems, including dementia and high dependency nursing needs as well as rehabilitation for those with brain injury.
