Planning permission granted for new school at Wootton Park in Northampton
The new school planned for land next to the police headquarters in Northampton has been given planning permission.
Wootton Park School will open in September after Northamptonshire County Council approved plans for temporary classrooms, the trust behind the scheme has revealed.
The deal to sell the land at Wootton Park was signed earlier this year.
Principal Dan Rosser said: “We are absolutely delighted that planning permission has been granted and the building of our high-quality, modular, bespoke temporary accommodation is due to start over the coming weeks.
“Our Reception and Year 7 families will be given a sneak preview of our fantastic new space when it has been completed in August.
“We have already formally welcomed our first-rate team of teachers who will be joining us in September and are in the process of recruiting our support staff to complete our excellent team,” he added.
A spokesman said the school would offer a “first-class learning environment” including a science laboratory, PE and dining facilities, IT suite and playing fields.
“Wootton Park School aims to help young people attain high academic standards through a rigorous international curriculum,” he said.
“The school will have a Crime Science specialism with a focus on its key principles of attainment, public service, community and citizenship.”
