The proposal to convert Arnold House in Lorne Road into residential accommodation has been put forward by the company Architectural Solutions.

Planning permission was previously granted for a similar scheme in 2013, but this has now lapsed.

A planning document states the applicant is planning to start work “immediately” if permission is granted a second time.

The application, which does not include any extra parking spaces, claims the conversion of the former shoe factory would not affect the character of the area.

The planning statement reads: “The conversion of this building from industrial to residential will not affect the main character of the building. [Because it is] facing Lorne Road, such as a change [would not] affect the character of the area.”

A public consultation on the plans is due to run until August 25.
