Plan for 1,000 homes and section of Northampton orbital road

A new housing estate and a new highway linking Welford Road and the A43 is to be the subject of a planning application.

Developer Roundhill Northampton Ltd are proposing to fund and deliver the section of the Northampton North Orbital Road along with a 1,000-home estate called Moulton Heights.

The company has been in talks with Daventry District Council and Northamptonshire County Council for several years and has now finished its masterplan.

It shows that the 1.6km section of orbital road would link the A43 to Boughton Fair Lane.

Oliver Roper, director of the company, said: “This proposal also contains 1,000 units, a new secondary school, employment and leisure facilities.

“The scheme will create 1,485 jobs, £9.1m in New Homes Bonus Payments to Daventry District Council and £46m worth of community infrastructure and planning contributions.”

A version of the plan was contained in a consultation in October 2014.

Roundhill has now completed its environmental statement and expects to submit a planning application “in the next 12 weeks”.
