Abington ParkÂ played host to thousands of Father Christmas' in aid ofÂ Northampton charity event, whichÂ took place over the weekend.

Santa's from all over the county got together on Sunday, December 11 to raise money for four charities in the town including Cynthia Spencer, The Rotary Club, Northamptonshire Health Charitable Fund and The Lewis Foundation.

The Santa Run & Walk event saw participants take part in famous red suits and hats, and welcomed the return of the ‘Best Dressed Dog’ competition.

At the end of the race, all participants received medals, which were designed by two Northampton boys from Brixworth.

In 2015 around 2,000 ‘Santa’s’ raised tens of thousands of pounds by running through Becket’s Park off Bedford Road.

The Northampton Santa Run & Walk, organised by Swift Run Events, saw participants raise more than Â£40,000 for six charities.
