A popular vlog about Northampton Town FC ran by two young fans has been nominated for a national award.

Cobblers Vlog has been shortlisted in the best young content creator category at the Football Content Awards 2020, with the winner partly decided by votes from the public.

Organisers Matt Salmons and Will Oelrich will find out if they have won at a ceremony at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in November.

Will said: "We didn't think we would get onto the shortlist as we looked at the other young channels and we didn't think we were as good as them.

"When we found out, it was hard as we had to keep it a secret for a few days, but it was amazing."

Matt started the YouTube channel in 2013 to record Cobblers games - Will joined last year as a way to pursue a career in journalism.

While they cannot film the games anymore due to copyright laws, the 17-year-olds preview and review every game throughout the season and interview players, managers and other people connected to the club or football.

Will, who is studying multimedia journalism at Northampton College, said: "We just chat about Cobblers and we're massive Cobblers fans so it doesn't feel like work so it's good to get nominated for this award."
