A police helicopter was spotted hovering over Northampton for a period of time yesterday.

The helicopter controlled by the National Police Air Service (NPAS) was hovering over the Abington area for at least 45 minutes.

The chopper could be seen from the A45 and from Kingsley, as well as from across the town between 4.40pm and 5.25pm.

At points it appeared to be almost still.

NPAS confirmed they assisted Northamptonshire Police at 4.40pm yesterday (February 17).

The local force confirmed the helicopter was used to look for a missing teenager.

A spokeswoman for Northamptonshire Police said: “The helicopter was up looking for a missing 15-year-old girl.

“She was found safe and well.”
