Eamonn 'Fitzy' Fitzpatrick says he has watched for months as the back alley off Sheep Street has fallen to disgrace.

Pictures taken this week by the Chronicle & Echo shows the passage littered with piles of bin bags, glass bottles and human waste.

Six unattended dumpster bins block the entrance at crooked angles. Cans, mattresses and fast-food packaging has built up in foul-smelling heaps.

Now, Fitzy says he has had enough and is calling for someone to take responsibility for cleaning it.

"It's a complete eyesore and a disgrace to the town," said Fitzy.

"I get no pleasure from moaning about things like this but it's been month. When do you say enough is enough?

"It's extreme flytipping. I'm just disappointed."

It comes after the Chron published pictures of the alleyway in September 2020 and has seemingly not been cleaned in the four months since.

The alleyway - which connects to the back of the former Balestra Nightclub and nearby Greyfriars - does not fall under the remit of Northampton Borough Council's environmental waste team Veolia - although it has been cleared by the team in the past. Instead, it is privately owned land.

The Chronicle & Echo has investigated and approached who it believes is the owner of the land for comment. At time of writing, they had not responded. This story will be updated when a response is received.
