A Northampton-based wedding planner is advising engaged couples to ‘hang in there’ as she is feeling far more positive about ceremonies going ahead in 2021.

Hannah Rose, who owns wedding planning business Complete Rose Events, spent most of 2020 consoling disappointed clients and offering advice on how to reschedule ceremonies that had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. With the vaccine roll-out now in process, the wedding expert is feeling positive and is advising couples to stay upbeat as she expects more guests to be allowed to attend the ‘big day’ soon.

Hannah said: “It’s a difficult one as obviously there isn’t anything set in stone, but I do think it is looking quite positive, especially with the vaccine.

“It’s not just that it’s being talked about, either it is actually already happening.

“The 15 guests rule being back in even during the tier system is also really good and positive so hopefully this new year that could go up to 30 guests, which is a really nice number for an intimate gathering.

“I think by Easter, weddings could be up and running again. Maybe with 50 guests or under.

“Then I think and hope by August we could then be in the full swing of things again.”

Although Hannah is hopeful guest numbers will increase by spring, she is advising any couples who may have a date planned in for the first few months of this year to consider whether they can picture a smaller wedding or not.

She added: “I think if you have a date for June or July for 150 people and you see no way of lowering that, maybe you should start having conversations with the venue and suppliers to reschedule.

“Or you could do whatever numbers you are allowed and then have a big celebration when this is all over.

“Even though people have been really disappointed and concerned about who they will have to uninvite, the process has been smooth and people understand.

“The intimate weddings have also been really beautiful, emotional and a chance for families to get together when they otherwise would not have been able to.

“It’s such a big thing for them and couples are just happy to be married.

“I’d just say to people to hang in there. If you’re happy to go ahead and you can visualise having 15 people there, just do it.

“Have the legal part and then plan a celebration for the year after.

“Stick with it. We are on the up now.”
