Residents on a street in a Northamptonshire village have shown more great community spirit as they helped to make their neighbour’s birthday special, despite the lockdown.

Scarlett Webb, who lives in Moulton, turned 18 on Sunday (April 19) so had to celebrate her special birthday in lockdown.

Although her big day was not quite what she was expecting, her neighbours went the extra mile to make sure the occasion was celebrated.

Scarlett, who is studying for A-Levels, said: “It was really lovely what they all did.

“They called me out and all up the road neighbours were at their doors and they sang to me.

“There were banners up saying happy birthday all the way up the road.

“I had no idea that they were going to do it so it was a nice surprise.”

As well as signing happy birthday, the neighbours whistled, clapped, waved flags, hung banners out of windows and some left home made cards and gifts at Scarlett’s doorstep.

“It was actually a really lovely day. We had a bit of a party in our garden with our household and I had lots of friends who came to the doorstep one by one to wish me happy birthday,” Scarlett continued.

“Everyone round here has been great during the lockdown.

“They’ve all been helping each other especially when they get shopping, everyone asks if anybody needs anything and they’ll get it for them.

“We’ve all been communicating a lot with each other.”

Since Scarlett’s birthday, her mum, Suzanne, has posted the video of her daughter being surprised by her neighbours on social media, which has been met with a great response.

Suzanne, added: “We are very blessed to have so many neighbours who are so very kind.”
