Village hall campaigners in Northamptonshire welcome grant of nearly £5,000 from ACRE

Fundraisers campaigning to carry out urgent repairs to a village hall in Northamptonshire have been given a boost with a grant of nearly £5,000.

Wappenham Village Hall has received funding from ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England) through the Village Halls Small Grants Fund, for £4729.20.

This vital funding has enabled urgent interim structural repair works to be completed, helping to safeguard the building and ensure it can continue to serve the community.

A spokesperson for the village hall committee said: “The grant has been used to address immediate structural concerns that had previously led to restrictions on the hall’s use. As a result of this work, those restrictions have now been lifted, meaning the hall can continue to host a wide range of community activities, events and meetings, reinforcing its role as a vital hub for the village.

“The interim repairs will be inspected annually and are expected to provide up to three years of continued use. This crucial window will allow the village to continue fundraising towards the full structural works required to secure the hall for the long term.”

To update residents and share more about the project, the Village Hall Committee will be holding a “Save Our Village Hall” meeting on Thursday March 12, 7pm in the hall. All are welcome.

“The committee would like to express its sincere gratitude and thanks to ACRE for this generous grant, which has made a significant and timely difference to Wappenham Village Hall,” the spokesperson added.

Donations and updates can be found via the JustGiving campaign page.

Further project updates and community information are also shared on the Village Hall Facebook page.
