Police have confirmed a the driver of a Vauxhall Insignia died in a horror smash near Northampton on Monday morning.

Collision investigators have launched an appeal for witnesses following the collision between a the saloon and a MAN truck on the A428, Bedford Road, near Little Houghton.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman confirmed: "The collision between a MAN LGV lorry and a black Vauxhall Insignia happened in Little Houghton at about 11.30am. The driver of the Insignia sadly died."

The road has been closed between Brackmills and Brafield-on-the-Green since the crash.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire's Serious Collision investigation team said: "If anybody was driving in the area at the time of this incident and saw the vehicles involved, or has dashcam footage which could help us, please call Drivewatch on 0800 174615 with the reference 160 and today's date."
