We have picked eight individuals and organisations of the many who go above and beyond to make Northampton a better place, yet often go unrecognised for their hard work.
Here at the Chronicle & Echo, we are proud to have told their stories over the past year and continued to raise awareness of the difference they make to the community.
From a pair of charity founders who go out of their way to make others feel good at a difficult time in their lives, to business owners who have put the town on the map, Northampton is better off as a result of these people.
We look forward to sharing more success stories like these in 2025 and if you have a tale to tell, email [email protected].

9. Greta McDonald
Greta McDonald is the founder of multi-award-winning vegan confectionery business Sweet Lounge, which was founded in Brixworth back in 2014. The founder has continued to scoop prestigious awards and put Northampton on the map in the business world, particularly when it comes to sustainability. After being named ‘Sustainability Director of the Year’ a couple of months ago, it is clear that Greta is leading the way to a greener future. Sweet Lounge has already eliminated single-use plastics in its kitchens and is the only sweet brand in retail that has compostable packaging. Photo: Greta McDonald
