As 2023 draws to a close, let’s take a look back on the 28 businesses that have opened their doors across Northampton this year.
The year started off strong with a sandwich shop that has continued to take the town by storm, and the 27 businesses that followed did not disappoint.
While some of these businesses were new additions, others moved to brand new locations and left behind where they previously traded across Northampton.
Supporting our town’s businesses has never been more important and we should all continue to do so in 2024 – especially to keep these newbies going strong.

9. La Trattoria – May 2023
Native Italian Davide Occihiuzzi opened his first restaurant and bar in College Street Mews on May 3. The restaurant serves freshly prepared pasta dishes from Davide’s home region, Abruzzo, from Wednesday to Sunday every week – which has added to the authentic cuisine on offer in the town centre. 10. The Penny Loafer – May 2023
The Penny Loafer opened on May 15, following a stylish refurbishment of former venue The Auctioneers in the Market Square. The pub temporarily closed in January while it underwent a refurbishment under new owners, Valiant, who bought the site from Marstons. The venue was properly opened around three weeks after its soft launch at the end of April. Photo: National World

11. Tokky – May 2023
Announced on social media on May 10, Tokky opened its second store in Weston Favell Shopping Centre – in addition to the one already open in the Grosvenor Centre. 12. Craft & Skewers – May 2023
Having opened its doors to the public on May 23, Craft & Skewers hoped to combine authentic Indian street food with a traditional pub environment. With a successful venue already open in Newport Pagnell, the team hoped the second location would prove just as popular. Photo: Kirsty Edmonds
