Struggling Northamptonshire charities can sign up for emergency grant money

Charities and community groups supporting vulnerable people across the county can now apply for funding through Northamptonshire Community Foundation’s Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund.

Grants of up to £3,000 are available to support community action helping vulnerable people affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.

Rachel McGrath, deputy CEO of Northamptonshire Community Foundation, said: “During this public health crisis it is critical that we ensure urgent support and help is provided to the most vulnerable members of our communities; especially those who are self-isolating due to older age and health issues without a network of support.

"Through the fund, we will prioritise activity, which meets those urgent needs including food aid, shopping, medical supplies, online and telephone advice and befriending services, community transport and in doing so provide a safety net to ensure people keep well.”

Grants will support projects that meet the foundation’s eligibility criteria for funding and should meet one of the following criteria:

Groups working directly with vulnerable communities and their carers.

Organisations providing direct services and support to people with low and insecure incomes and those working with school-age children in disadvantaged communities where schools have been closed.

Local charities and community organisations whose operations and finances have been affected so they can recover and continue their activities once the outbreak eases.

Individuals and businesses cannot apply and the fund cannot be used to support individual needs on a personal basis.
