A charitable young girl has managed to raise more than £300 for the children’s ward at a Northampton hospital by baking and selling cakes.

Luna-Mae, who lives with her mum Jade Pancoust in Upton, gave up her weekend to bake 100 cakes and then sell them on Sunday (August 2).

The six-year-old was keen to help the children in Berrywood Hospital after her mum recently set up a community interest company (CIC), called NewHope Wolfpack, which she hopes will help children on the ward lead a better life.Luna-Mae was aiming to raise £100 so the 14 children on the ward could have a takeaway and a film evening, but she managed to smash her target by raising £310.35.

Jade said: “Luna-Mae has been helping me but she wanted to do something on her own and she wanted them all to be able to have a takeaway, so we thought she’d need to raise about £100.

“She likes making cakes so she made all 100 of them. My niece also helped her make shortbread and we made a big lemon drizzle cake too.

“She did the sale in the car park where we live with our next door neighbour.

“I posted it on Upton community groups on Facebook and she had her first customer before 11.

“They both came running in so excited that they’d sold some lemonade.

“At the end she had around ten left, but her uncle bought them.”

After counting up how much she had raised, Jade said that Luna-Mae was ‘ecstatic’ to have tripled her original target.

Jade added: “I’m really proud of her, she’s such a kind little girl.

“The extra money will really help so much. They might be able to have a couple of nights with it or they’ll be able to buy the kids something to entertain them.”
