A burst water main in a Northampton dog-walking field could be running until the end of the week while engineers try to fix the issue.

A stream of water has been flowing down a footpath in Bradlaugh Fields for nearly two weeks after a pipe burst sometime around the August bank holiday.

Visitors say the constant stream has left the surrounding green area boggy and water-logged.

However, Anglian Water has said it could be another week until the problem is fixed.

A spokesperson said: “We are aware of a burst water main in Bradlaugh Fields which our teams have been investigating since the weekend.

"We have reduced the flow of the water as much as we can without it affecting customer supply and aim to have the repair completed by the end of the week.”

It comes as Bradlaugh Fields will reportedly be assessed for its Green Flag award by the end of the month.
