Serial thug jailed over assault with metal pole in Northampton town centre

Court hears 25-year-old had previous for threats to kill, criminal damage and carrying weapon

Northampton magistrates jailed a serial thug for 18 months after he was tracked down following media appeals.

Police circulated photos of Nicusor Lutic across Northamptonshire and Wiltshire on November 15. He was arrested in the west country on November 24 and jailed at Northampton four days later for an assault in College Street in the town centre in July involving a metal pole.

Court documents revealed the 25-year-old — who also uses the name Lutic Nicusor — had previous convictions for assault, making threats to kill, criminal damage and carrying an offensive weapon and was still serving a suspended sentence.

Magistrates sentenced Lutic, said to be of no fixed abode, to 52 weeks at a hearing on November 28 and invoked a further 26 weeks from the previous suspended sentences handed down in October.

He was also ordered to pay £100 compensation to the victim of the College Street assault.
