Sentencing adjourned again for man, 29, who admitted keying car in Northampton neighbourhood

A 29-year-old man who pleaded guilty to keying a car in a Northampton neighbourhood has had his sentencing adjourned again.

Munashe Gwenzi, 29, of Mayfly Road, Pineham, appeared before Northampton Magistrates' Court today (July 10) for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to criminal damage, assaulting a police officer and failing to surrender to bail.

The court heard Gwenzi has not yet completed an appointment with probation to enable a pre-sentence report to be prepared.

It was told the court had previously requested two pre-sentence reports, but neither had been completed.

Magistrates adjourned the case until August 14 at Northampton Magistrates' Court. Gwenzi was granted unconditional bail and is due to attend a probation appointment next week.

He also pleaded guilty to assaulting PC Macleod in Northampton on May 6 and failing, without reasonable cause, to surrender to custody at Northampton Magistrates' Court on May 21 after being released on bail on May 7.

Gwenzi entered guilty pleas to all three offences on May 25. The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report to be prepared ahead of sentencing.

When the case returned to court on June 17, magistrates were told the report had not been completed.

Court records show Gwenzi has previous convictions.

In April 2024, he admitted damaging the same car in Dragonfly Way, Pineham, and was ordered to pay £100 compensation and fined £40.

At the same hearing, he also pleaded guilty to stealing JBL Bluetooth headphones worth £35 from B&M in Victoria Promenade on two consecutive days, April 23 and April 24, 2024. He was fined £80 for each theft, with £35 compensation ordered for one of the offences.

Gwenzi also admitted a public order offence committed on April 23, 2024, after using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of violence or provoke unlawful violence. He was fined £120.
