A charity shop in Northampton is warning the public to stop leaving donations outside its closed store.

RSPCA's charity shop in Main Road, Duston, is closed while the country is in lockdown, but people are still leaving bags of donations outside the store.

The charity is not collecting these donations and is concerned that the bags are being stolen.

RSPCA is also warning the public that dumping bags outside the shop is classed as fly-tipping.

Posting to its Facebook page, RSPCA Duston said: "Whoever is leaving donations outside the shop, can you please wait until we are open again.

"These donations will not be taken in the shop as we are closed, they will more then likely be stolen, as have the previous donations that have been left."

A spokeswoman for the charity added: "Our supporters donations are extremely valuable to us as a charity and any donations left outside at this time will be classed as fly tipping.

"We would be extremely grateful if they could hold on to the donations until we reopen as we will need their help more than ever to recoup the money that has been lost from being closed for so long."

For now the charity is asking people to keep hold of their donations until the shop reopens.
