Road closed in Northamptonshire village following huge water leak
Broad Street in Earls Barton has been closed following a water leak in the area.
Broad Street, the stretch of road which connects The Square to the route out of the village and to Great Doddington, has been closed as Anglian Water remain on the scene attending to the incident.
An Anglian Water spokesperson said: "We understand concerns about leaks and the impact they can have on local communities. Our teams work around the clock to identify and repair leaks as quickly as possible, prioritising those that have the greatest impact on customers' water supplies and those resulting in the highest water loss.
“Finding and fixing leaks is one of our biggest priorities. We currently have 245 people focused on finding and fixing leaks, including increased 24/7 standby and emergency response cover. We've also invested heavily in technology to find leaks faster, including deploying more than 130,000 acoustic loggers every year, advanced monitoring across more than 20% of our network, satellite technology to spot hidden leaks from space, and drones equipped with thermal cameras.

“We continually monitor and assess reported leaks to ensure resources are focused where they are needed most, and we'd like to thank customers for their patience while this work is carried out."
The leak started with a small fountain of water emerging from the road near Broad Street’s junction with Churchill Road, before further damage causing a significant amount of water to spray up from the ground.
An Earls Barton Parish Council spokesman said: “Please avoid the village centre if at all possible this morning. Broad Street is currently closed due to a burst water main.
"We have also heard reports of a potential burst main on West Street to so it’s possible that will also be closed at some point.
"Bus services are being rerouted via Station Road and Dowthorpe Hill.”
