An "appalling" flytipping heap at the top of a Northampton neighbourhood road has been met with disgust by residents.

A video has been shared online of a heap of rubbish dumped on a building site near the junction of Oliver Street and Kettering Road, in Kingsley, behind the former Lloyds Bank.

Disgusted residents have commented that the site has become a regular flytipping hotspot during the lockdown, and has been cleared away several times only to be filled with more rubbish within weeks.

A spokeswoman for Northampton Borough Council said they were "in the process of taking action against the landowner".

Borough councillor Cathrine Russell said: "I would like to thank NBC Environmental Services for clearing this site over the past year or so.

"However I must say I am shocked people continue to flytip their rubbish here - this is, after all, a residential area where residents have always taken pride in their environment. So I am delighted NBC is taking steps to work with the owners and landlords to ensure the rubbish is cleared and to find ways to secure the area in the future."
