Residents asked to shape future of major events across West Northamptonshire

Residents are being urged to help shape the future of major events across West Northamptonshire by taking part in a new public survey.

West Northamptonshire Council (WNC), working in partnership with the University of Northampton, has launched the questionnaire to gather views on the kinds of events people would like to see in the area.

Feedback will help create a new Major Events Strategy, guiding how festivals, sporting fixtures and community celebrations are planned and supported in the years ahead.

The strategy will build on a successful recent track record, including the Women's Rugby World Cup, Tour of Britain, A Perfect Day Festival, Let’s Rock and Northamptonshire Day celebrations.

Cllr James Petter, cabinet member for local economy, culture and leisure at WNC, said the survey gave residents a “real opportunity” to shape what comes next.

He said: “No idea is too big or too small – whether it’s pet shows, arts and crafts, motorsport, technology or something entirely different.”

Ivna Reic, head of school of marketing and hospitality management at the university, said events helped bring people together and build pride in place.

The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete and is open to anyone who lives, works, studies or regularly spends time in West Northamptonshire. Responses must be submitted by May 15, 2026.
