Provisional inquest date set into fatal stabbing of Mason Miller at Northampton park
A provisional inquest date has been set into the fatal stabbing of Mason Miller at a Northampton park.
Mason, aged 20, died after being stabbed at Briar Hill playing field at around 3.30pm on Wednesday, February 18.

The inquest into his death was opened at Northampton Guildhall on Wednesday March 4.
The court heard that the provisional cause of Mason’s death was a stab wound to the chest.
Senior coroner Anne Pember adjourned the inquest and set a provisional date for the full hearing on Wednesday, August 12.
Following the incident, a murder investigation was launched, in which a number of people have been arrested. The latest update of arrests can be found here.
Floral tributes have been laid for Mason at the park and a GoFundMe page has been launched to help raise money for his family.
The fundraiser reads: “My friend Mason Miller was taken from us on February 18 due to knife crime. This has left his family mortified and I really want to be able to give him the send off he and his family deserve. Please support this fundraiser as it will do so much for the family of my friend and brother Mason.”
At the time of publication, the fundraiser has raised £3,600 of its £4,000 target.
Detective Inspector Matt Bly, of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) Major Crime team, who is leading the murder investigation, said: “Mason’s death has left his family with unanswered questions, and they deserve to know what has happened to their loved one.
“We know that the key to this investigation lies within the local community, and it is possible that some people have captured those responsible for the stabbings on CCTV or dash-cam footage and may not realise that they have vital information which could help us.
“However small or insignificant you believe the information is, if you have not already done so, please get in touch as a matter of urgency. Any little detail may help us piece together what happened both before and after the incident at the skate park.”
Detectives have released CCTV footage of two people they would like to speak to in connection with the murder of Mason and the attempted murder of a 17-year-old boy.
They are also appealing for anyone who was driving in the Kings Heath, Duston, Upton and Briar Hill areas of Northampton between 2pm and 4pm last Wednesday (February 18), and who has dash-cam footage, to come forward.
The investigation team would also like to hear from residents and businesses with CCTV or doorbell footage from the relevant date and time which shows two males on electric motorcycles travelling in convoy.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Northamptonshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
