As the clock struck 8pm last night, hundreds of Northamptonians took to their door steps, balconies and windows to cheer on the NHS in their efforts to combat the coronavirus outbreak.

A national campaign asked Northampton to join hundreds of thousands of people across the country last night in a second round of applause for our incredible medics working round-the-clock on the front line.

The first viral 'Clap for Our Carers' campaign took place on March 26, which asked for the UK to show their appreciation for healthcare workers, and Nothampton did not dissapoint.

Both nights have been emotional as this town's community spirit has prevailed.

Cul-de-sacs united, fire engines blared their blue sirens, takeaway staff downed tools and toddlers dummed pots and pans.
