Spread, which opened in Adnitt Road, Abington at the start of 2023, gave away almost 300 sandwiches in less than three hours one day last November.

Following the success of last year, Spread will do the same on November 3 – and they are opening especially on that Sunday from 11am to give away even more sandwiches than before.
When asked why she wanted to do this for a second time, Amy told the Chronicle & Echo: “Last time we created such a good vibe and it was nice to feel like we gave back as it’s not done regularly.

The business owner still cannot believe the response to last year. They had completely run out by 11.30am, when they thought they would last until they shut at 2pm.
The shop will open from 11am on November 3, stocked with more sandwiches than last year. All the classic flavours and a vegan option will be available.

Amy is also pleased that their most popular resident baker Cookie Babes will be in stock on November 3, and available for visitors to purchase when they pick up their freebies.
The team would love to see people sharing pictures of their freebie sandwiches on social media, to create momentum around their National Sandwich Day giveaway.

“It’s quieter in the summer holidays as people are out of their normal routine, but there’s a nice and steady momentum.”
