Popular Northampton nightclub announces move to iconic town centre venue nearby

Encore nightclub in Bridge Street revealed the news in a video posted on social media this month, reassuring customers it is "not closing" but relocating to a larger premises in the town centre.

The video begins with one member of the team saying: "I can't believe we're closing down, man." Another responds: "We're not closing. We're moving."

The clip then reveals the new site, with the team saying: "Some of you may know this as Auntie Ruth's. Some of you may know this as Element or Platform. This is a new era. Welcome to our new home. Welcome to Encore Complex."

The former Auntie Ruth's building was previously marketed as a 1,000-capacity nightclub and bar, with a main music venue, basement bar, roof terrace, café and office space spread across the site, with a yearly rental cost of £125k.

The building, most recently home to Element, has stood empty since 2023 after operating as a student venue in partnership with the University of Northampton. Before that it was known as Auntie Ruth's – formerly the Black Bottom Club – until it closed after a New Year's Eve party in 2015.

Encore first opened in February 2026 after taking over the former Revolution building on Bridge Street, describing itself as Northampton's newest nightlife experience.

Customers have praised the nightclub since it opened.

One reviewer said: "Encore Nightclub is hands down the best place for a night out in Northampton. The atmosphere is incredible, the music is always spot on and the energy throughout the venue is second to none."

Another said: "Best venue for nightlife, such a good atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, drinks are a decent price and music played to suit everyone."

Another added: "The drinks are fairly priced, the security team is friendly and professional, and the bar staff are welcoming and create a great atmosphere."
