Plans submitted for 226 new homes in Northampton as fresh planning applications revealed
Plans for hundreds of new homes in Northampton, along with changes to a listed building in the town centre, feature in the latest batch of planning applications submitted to West Northamptonshire Council.
The largest proposal is a reserved matters application for 226 new dwellings on land west of Windingbrook Lane and south of Rowtree Road, forming phase 2B of the Northampton South Sustainable Urban Extension. The application includes associated landscaping, public open space, allotments and supporting infrastructure. The wider development has outline permission for up to 1,000 homes, alongside a mixed-use local centre, a primary school site, green infrastructure and highway improvements.

In Northampton town centre, a listed building consent application has been submitted for Drapery Buildings, 43–49 Drapery. The proposals seek to remove alterations made since May 18, 2001, reinstate the premises to their earlier configuration following phase one works, and carry out conservation, repair and decoration works. The plans also include the installation of additional steel balustrades to the rear external fire escape stairs.
Elsewhere in the town, a part-retrospective application has been lodged for 465 Wellingborough Road, seeking permission for a single-storey rear extension.
Outside Northampton, a number of applications have also been submitted across the county. These include an outline application for up to 26 dwellings on land south of 27 High Street in Paulerspury, involving the demolition of existing buildings and the creation of new homes with landscaping and biodiversity enhancements.
In Boughton, planning permission and listed building consent have been sought for works at The Old Rectory on Church Street, including repairs and the installation of new vacuum glazing to ground floor windows, alongside the replacement of first-floor windows to match the historic design.
Other applications include extensions to homes in Little Houghton, Blakesley and Creaton, a self-build dwelling proposed on land north west of Main Street in Denton, and minor residential alterations in several villages.
All applications can be viewed online via the West Northamptonshire Council website, or at local council offices. Members of the public have 21 days from the date of publication to submit comments, excluding bank and public holidays. Representations can be made online or in writing to the planning department at The Guildhall, St Giles Square, Northampton.
