A multi-award-winning Indian restaurant and takeaway brought the community together to celebrate 25 years of success in Northampton.

Aramintas, located in Wellingborough Road, opened as a restaurant in 2022 – after operating as only a takeaway since they were established in 1999.

The family-run business has been on a journey over the past quarter of a century, having moved from Wootton to the town centre and scooping many awards in the process.

On Monday evening (September 9), loyal customers and the Mayor of Northampton were invited to Aramintas for a celebratory anniversary dinner with entertainment.

Talking to the Chronicle & Echo, restaurant director Shohid Islam said: “We’re immensely proud and want to thank the community for supporting us over the 25 years.”

The family is proud of the work they have done to support charities and the community during that time, and could not have done it without the continued support from customers.

Shohid has been involved in the family business for around a decade, but it is only during the last couple of years that the 24-year-old took up a considerable role.

He is joined by many members of his family, who play an important part in making the business a success both in the kitchen and front of house.

The Aramintas team has been rewarded many times for their hard work, through award nominations and wins over the years.

The most recent was being named among the top 100 curry houses in the UK at an awards ceremony organised by the Asian Catering Federation.

The family is also waiting to learn their fate over the coming months for two other award nominations.

“It does have a considerable effect,” said Shohid, when asked if award wins make all the hard work worthwhile. “It helps with word of mouth and recommendations, which are the most important thing.”

The restaurant director believes it is their hard work in creating authentic and unique dishes that sets them apart from others across the town. Customers typically praise their service, and the “open, welcoming and friendly” atmosphere they create.

“We’ve been operating for 25 years and we know the ins and outs of the industry,” Shohid continued.

The celebratory dinner welcomed 55 people to Aramintas restaurant, which was largely made up of their regular customers as a thank you for supporting the team over the past 25 years. The team were pleased to raise £250 on the night, which will be donated to the Mayor’s chosen charity, The Lewis Foundation.

Aramintas will also be running an anniversary deal from September 16 to 18. Over the course of three days, you can get 50 percent off takeaways and 25 percent off when dining at the restaurant.
