Pictures and video show new modular units being craned into Northampton General Hospital as part of new urgent treatment centre

Over the weekend, a large crane was used to move several units, which will form new clinical areas, onto the Cliftonville site.

The units are all part of a wider £15.75 million project to create a new emergency department entrance and an urgent treatment centre, with completion expected in summer this year.

The hospital says the new clinical areas will “expand capacity and enhance the experience and care for patients”.

Road closures were in place around the site until the morning of Tuesday March 17, to allow for the movement of the buildings.

The new unit is being built near to the Cliftonville Road entrance and will join the existing emergency department with the Nye Bevan building.
