These seven admirable individuals have celebrated turning 100 or older in 2023 across Northampton.
Here at the Chronicle & Echo we have been lucky enough to speak to and hear the life stories of these people – who all celebrated the milestones with their loved ones around them.
Meet the three 100-year-olds, one 101-year-old, one 102-year-old and two 103-year-olds who looked back fondly over their younger years in the run up to their big birthdays.

5. 103-year-old May Ennifer – September 7
May Ennifer celebrated her 103rd birthday on September 7 with an afternoon tea party at Ridgway House in Towcester. Her relatives travelled far and wide to be with her on the special day, which May was very excited for. As one of 10 children and with two children herself, May lived a busy post office and shop work-life when she was married and carried out clerical work during the war. She was also a keen baker and seamstress at the time. Photo: Kirsty Edmonds

6. 100-year-old Betty Davis – October 1
Betty Davis, described as optimistic and determined, turned 100 on October 1 and is a true Northampton native – having only left for a short while to go to Norfolk as part of her war service. Until June 2023, Betty lived in the house she was born in and where her father Jack resided. Betty used to love going to the theatre in her earlier years and has fond memories of visiting the Royal & Derngate to watch performances. Photo: Submitted

7. 100-year-old Vera Lillian Harman – November 14
Ahead of her 100th birthday on November 14, Vera Lillian Harman said the key is being happy with what you’ve got. Vera had a busy itinerary lined up for her special day, at Ridgway House where she has resided for four years. Leading up to her birthday, Vera opened her 102 cards. Having worked in the Women’s Royal Navy Service, she has friends all over the world – but there was one special card from King Charles which she was very proud to receive. Photo: Submitted
