Petrol station at huge Northampton Tesco closed for more than a week

The work is due to be finished by the end of next week

A busy petrol station at one of Northampton's biggest supermarkets is shut temporarily.

The filling station at Tesco Extra in Clannell Road, known as Mereway Tesco, is closed due to planned maintenance work.

While the amenity is shut off to the public, the overhead gantry is being replaced.

The pumps and the forecourt have been surrounded by barriers since Sunday (September 20) to allow workers to compete the job and stop customers driving in.

A spokesman for Tesco said: "The petrol filling station at Northampton South Extra is closed until the October 2 for planned maintenance to replace the overhead gantry."

The petrol station will reopen next Friday (October 2). In the meantime customers can use the nearest Tesco petrol station at Weston Favell Shopping Centre.
