'One of the best shops in Northampton' makes ‘difficult' decision to CLOSE DOWN after 40 ‘incredible’ years
'One of the best shops in Northampton' has made the ‘difficult' decision to close down after 40 ‘incredible’ years.
Styles of London, in Abington Street, will shut within the next six months, owner Danny Parmar announced in a Facebook post.
He wrote: “After nearly 40 years of trading, I am writing to inform you that Styles of London will be closing within the next six months. This decision, though difficult, marks the end of an incredible journey that would not have been possible without your unwavering support.
“I also want to sincerely acknowledge and thank all the incredible staff who have been part of Styles of London throughout the years.

“We cherish the friendship and relationships we’ve built along the way. Thank you once again for your valued custom and support throughout the years. With heartfelt appreciation, Danny.”
Danny started out as a market trader in London before moving to Northampton. He previously told the Chronicle & Echo: “I used to run market stalls in London all them years ago. Everyone in the old days used to go to London to purchase stocks, so that's where the idea came from, to bring that to Northampton.”
Styles of London stood on the Drapery for 25 years before moving to Abington Street in 2018, where it has been for eight years now.
Customers reacted with sadness to the announcement, sharing memories of shopping at the store over the years.
One customer said: “The go to place for creps since the 90s.”
Another wrote: “My ‘go to’ spot back in the day, when I was a teenager.”
Another comment read: “One of the nicest people to run a shop, all the best, Danny.”
Another said: “This is so sad, so many shops closing in the town centre. Good luck, Danny, in whatever you do next.”
One customer commented: “Sad news. Banging shop.”
Another said: “All the best Danny, remember doing my school work experience at your place haha that’s 20 – 21 years ago now.”
Another wrote: “Sad news, been buying from you since the days of the market. Good luck for the future!”
The shop has previously been described online by customers as “one of the best in Northampton”.
Styles of London’s closure is the latest blow to Northampton town centre, following the recent closure of other independent businesses including Saints Coffee and Eccentric Englishman on St Giles Street.
Danny previously said to Chronicle and Echo: “If there are no independent stores here, it's going to be very generic. Everyone will be wearing the same clothing.”
