Supermarket bosses are reassuring customers that a Morrisons store in Northampton is still safe to shop at following positive coronavirus cases on site.

It comes as a "very small number" of staff at the Kettering Road store have tested positive for COVID-19, bosses have confirmed to this newspaper.

It is understood that the number of cases is in single digits.

A spokeswoman for Morrisons told the Chronicle & Echo: "A very small number of colleagues in our Kettering Road store have tested positive for coronavirus and we wish them a speedy recovery.

"We continue to follow robust procedures to ensure it's safe for colleagues and customers."

A shopper told this newspaper that after entering the store on Tuesday (December 29) there was a number of empty shelves, which is believed to be a result of a staff shortage.
