Since last March, Ramgharia Board Northampton have been providing hot meals to families and elderly who have been shielding.

The organisation, which is made up of young volunteers all the way up to 80-years-old, has cooked and delivered meals to the homeless when they were staying at hotels in the 'Everyone In' government scheme.

It also provided food parcels to primary schools to help support families in need and has held monthly food banks at its community centre for anyone who needed the additional support.

A Ramgharia Board Northampton spokeswoman said: "In December, during the floods, we prepared 450 meals in the space of three hours and delivered to the flood victims from Billing Aquadrome who were staying at hotels because of being evacuated.

"We provided lunches for children during the Christmas holidays, some of the families told us this was a 'god send' as they were really struggling. We'll help anyone, and our volunteers always serve you with a smile.

"This is all part of the Sikh faith concept of Seva, which is selfless services."
