Northamptonshire woman who lost 10st meets Olympic boxing legend after reaching national competition semi-finals

A Northamptonshire woman who lost an incredible 10st 1lb has reached the semi-finals of a national weight-loss competition – and celebrated her achievement by meeting double Olympic boxing champion Nicola Adams.

Lisa Lewis, aged 57, was among just 36 women selected for the semi-finals of Slimming World’s Woman of the Year 2026 competition, held in Derbyshire.

Having reduced her weight from 18st 12lb to 8st 11lb, Lisa was chosen to represent her Rushden Slimming World group after fellow members voted for her.

Lisa said: “Before joining Slimming World, I felt trapped by my weight. My confidence was so low, and I was constantly worrying about my weight.

“It was a wedding invitation, followed by my type-2 diabetes diagnosis, that made me realise something had to change.

“I joined Slimming World hoping to lose weight, but I gained so much more, including improvements in my health and confidence – it was the best decision I’ve ever made.”

Alongside changing her eating habits, Lisa became increasingly active, progressing from short walks to completing a 100-mile walk for the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust.

She credited the encouragement of fellow group members and consultant Leanne Onderka with helping her maintain her motivation.

Nicola Adams praised Lisa’s determination, saying: “The commitment and dedication it must have taken Lisa to lose 10st is remarkable.

“Success doesn't happen overnight, whether in sport or in life, and she’s proof of what can be achieved when you stay focused on your goal.”
