Miranda Clare, 46, who is the landlady at The Live and Let Live pub in Harpole, has been awarded a Rose of Northamptonshire award for her contribution to the community throughout the coronavirus pandemic.

The award, which was open to the public to send in their nominations, recognises and expresses thanks to groups or individuals who have worked tirelessly to keep their communities safe since the pandemic began back in March 2020.

Miranda said: "It's quite nice really. It's nice to think someone has nominated me - very nice. It's nice that someone has taken the time and effort to say 'thanks for doing a good job'. It keeps me motivated.

"I've had lots of lovely comments back from friends and family saying I've done so much and that it's a great thing I'm getting some recognition.

"I think I've made people feel part of a community. I would like to say a big thank you to whoever put me forward, it's a lovely thing to do.

"We're still trying to keep people's spirits up because it's been harder in the winter lockdown without the sunny weather."

Miranda's daughter Josie said she was "immensely proud" of her mum.

She said: "I am so immensely proud of my mum, everything she does is for the morale of others around her, to lift the spirits of the community. She's worked so hard over the last nine months, I couldn't think of anyone else more deserving of this award."

Some of the events and services Miranda has provided include medication drop-offs during each lockdown, special free-of-charge evenings at the pub for people who were unable to celebrate key milestones in their life due to Covid, a Christmas market at the pub, and her highlight, happy birthday drive-bys while she and a convoy behind beep their horns.
