The children at Woodford Halse Primary Academy want to do their bit to say thank you to all the people in the NHS risking their own safety while trying to tackle the coronavirus outbreak.

Tomorrow marks the end of the school term and pupils would usually celebrate breaking up for the two-week Easter holidays by wearing their casual clothes for mufti-day.

But as the children have been wearing non-uniform since they have been in isolation, casual clothes day has suddenly become very different for for Woodford Halse, and the rest of the country.

As children and staff are all at home keeping safe, headteacher, Ed Newton, proposed the children could dress up tomorrow but in a slightly different way...

He said: "We thought we could dress up this time round and put our uniforms back on, or wear something blue, to say thank you to those people who are having to get dressed every day and battle with Coronavirus.

"We are going to wear something blue from our school uniform for the day and get other people to wear their work clothes, or something blue, to show our support for the NHS.

"We can then share our photos with the rest of the country to make the NHS workers know we are thinking of them."

It comes as the country is getting set tonight (Thursday) for a second nationwide applause as part of #ClapForOurCarers.

The same time, same place clap for NHS workers will start again at 8pm tonight from the nation's doorsteps, windows, gardens and balconies to show support for frontline NHS workers battling against Covid-19.
