Public salute "remarkable and selfless act" in trying to break victim's fall
A police officer has been hailed a hero after using his body to break the fall of a man who emerged from the third floor of a town centre house last night.
The constable was taken to hospital but released after treatment. The man who fell is also recovering.
A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police revealed that officers had responded to calls from members of the public regarding an incident in Brook Street, Daventry.
Four minutes after they arrived a man apparently jumped from the third floor of a property but was saved from serious injury by one of the constables moving underneath to break his fall.
Reports of the incident spread on social media.
One post said it was a "remarkable and selfless act from the officer" while another called it "incredible bravery."
