Northamptonshire footgolfer lands two English titles – and now he’s chasing the national crown
A Northamptonshire man is celebrating double success after winning two titles at the English Footgolf Open.
Paul Haynes, from Long Buckby, claimed victory in both the over-65s category and the over-55s amateur section at the event, which was organised by the Footgolf Association of England.
The competition was held at Ashbury Golf Resort in Okehampton, Devon, where Paul competed against some of the leading players in the sport.
Paul, who also plays walking football for Moulton Masters, said winning both titles had exceeded his expectations.

He said: “It was a privilege to play against world class players and on one of the finest golf courses in Europe.
“To win both titles was way beyond my target and expectation.”
His success in the over-65s competition has also left Paul leading the Footgolf Association of England national tour.
He has now recorded five tour victories, with successes coming at events in Okehampton, Oldham, Wootton Bassett and Colchester.
Paul will have the opportunity to secure the national title when he competes at the North/Liverpool Open in September.
A first or second-place finish at the event would be enough for him to secure top spot and become National Tour Champion.
He is currently ahead of Stephen Standord and Chris Wood in the standings, while 2025 English number one George Anderson is currently sidelined due to health issues.
Another victory would also see Paul secure his ranking as the new English over-65s number one.
Footgolf combines elements of football and golf, with competitors attempting to kick a football into a larger hole in as few shots as possible while following a course similar to traditional golf.
Paul’s double English Open triumph puts him in a strong position heading into the final stages of the national tour as he looks to cap off a successful season by becoming the country’s leading over-65s player.
