Northamptonshire animal charity 'blown away' by dedication of volunteer riding from Land's End to John O'Groats for them

A volunteer at Animals In Need in Little Irchester has cycled hundreds of miles to raise money for the charity which rescues and rehomes countless animals every year.

Volunteer David completed the ‘epic’ challenge from Land’s End to John O’Groats on August 9.

Sanctuary manager at Animals In Need Annie Marriott said: “We are absolutely blown away by the dedication of one of our amazing volunteers, David Herincx, who has just taken on the epic challenge of cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

"David has been volunteering with Animals In Need Northamptonshire for the past two years and now he has gone the extra mile – quite literally – to help raise vital funds for the animals in our care.”

David’s efforts have already raised more than £1,000.

Annie added: “Every mile cycled and every donation made will help us continue rescuing, treating and caring for sick, injured, abandoned and distressed animals.

"David, we are incredibly proud of you.

"Thank you for putting yourself through such an amazing challenge for our animals.

"Your determination, commitment and kindness mean so much to us.

"And to everyone who has supported David so far, thank you!”

David first started volunteering with Animals In Need two years ago after the charity took in an injured hedgehog which he had found in his garden.

Animals In Need is a voluntary organisation dedicated to rescuing sick, injured, trapped and distressed wild and domestic animals.

It provides veterinary treatment where necessary, cares for and rehabilitates animals until they can be released or rehomed.

Anyone who would like to support David can do so via his JustGiving page here.
