Northampton town centre restaurant features in latest planning applications

A town centre restaurant and several residential developments across Northamptonshire feature in the latest round of planning applications submitted to West Northamptonshire Council.

Among the proposals is a bid affecting a prominent Market Square property in Northampton. Plans have been submitted for Beethoven House, 32 Market Square, seeking permission and listed building consent to install an external extractor fan at the rear of the restaurant’s kitchen.

Elsewhere in Northampton, an application has been lodged for 116 Colwyn Road to convert a single dwelling into three residential units. The proposal also includes changes to windows, a new front roof window and a rear extension.

In the wider district, developments in rural areas are also under consideration. At Maidford House Farm in Chapel Lane, Maidford, two applications seek minor design changes to previously approved barn conversions. The wider scheme includes the demolition of agricultural buildings and the creation of several new homes, alongside landscaping and infrastructure works.

Listed building consent has also been requested for The Shieling in Manor Road, Grimscote, where plans propose replacing existing single-glazed windows with vacuum-glazed units in timber frames.

Further proposals include works at Sedgebrook in Rectory Lane, Walgrave, where plans seek to remove the existing roof and create a new loft space with a front dormer, roof lights and solar panels, along with alterations to access.

Residents can view and comment on the applications via the council’s website or by writing to its offices at The Guildhall in St Giles Square.

Representations must be submitted within 21 days of the notice, which was published on April 9, 2026.
