A Northampton town centre car park has reopened following the completion of major repair works needed after two collisions.

St John’s Car Park reopened this afternoon (Monday October 28) after being closed since the afternoon of Friday October 18.

The car park had to shut ten days ago after the driver of a Seat Leon collided with the side wall, causing significant damage. A 23-year-old man has pleaded guilty to a number of driving offences.

West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) has since been working to make sure the car park is safe to reopen.

Posting on social media this afternoon, WNC said: “St John’s Car Park is now open. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during the repairs. We look forward to welcoming you back."

While repair works were being completed on the damage caused by the first collision, another occurred on Wednesday October 23 and caused further damage, although not on the same scale as the first collision.
