Northampton town centre favourite, Mooch, is expanding.

This week bosses Rachel and Paul Roberts will see their fifth store open at Rushden Lakes, in the former Hotter shop.

The store, which is venturing off the high street for the first time, is getting ready to open its doors before the weekend with new environmentally friendly lines.

The husband and wife duo both used to work for retailers in London and gave up their demanding jobs before moving to Northampton 20 years ago.

After thinking there was nowhere to go in Northampton for a gift, they set up Mooch online in November 2016.

One year later, in May 2017, the pair opened their first gift and homeware store in St Giles Street.

Now they are the owners of four more shops, including their branches in Olney, Towcester, Rushden Lakes and inside Bell of Northampton, in Kingsthorpe.

The store is bringing with them their best sellers as well as their new lines of environmentally friendly gifts, to reflect the nature reserve.

Rachel said: “We are very excited to be opening another shop, especially during such a difficult time.

"The things we sell are perfect to give someone a little pick me up, or for a little self-indulgence, something we think everyone needs at the moment.

"The new store lends itself to the way people want to shop at the moment. This will give our existing customers an opportunity to shop another way and we look forward to welcoming new customers too."
