The Northampton Saints Foundation has thanked a long-time donor for being one of the first companies to get involved in its new 'sponsor a student' scheme.

Cell Regeneration is paying for 12-months of support and education for a young person struggling in school through the club's charitable arm.

Managing director of the Stamford-based health company, Liz Clare, said: “I have seen first-hand the impact of the Northampton Saints Foundation on students’ lives.

"We are honoured to support such an impactful initiative that continues to open its doors to help young people who need it the most.”

Liz has been personally involved with the foundation for nearly a decade through the charity, Always a Chance, which she co-founded following the murders of James Cooper and James Kouzaris.

The charity aims to encourage young people to re-engage with education or support them as they take their first steps into employment.

They donated time, skills and funding to the Northampton Saints Hitz project, which helps more than 100 young people back into education, training, apprenticeships and/or work.

When Liz and her colleagues at Cell Regeneration were informed of the Saints Foundation's 'sponsor a student' scheme, it offered another opportunity to extend their support.

"These students have struggled in mainstream education and have been referred to the Foundation to receive help with training and development, giving them the chance of a better future," she said.

"The more young people that the Foundation can help, the more the local NEET (not in employment, education or training) population will reduce, and in turn incidents of anti-social behaviour."

Foundation fundraising manager Sue Wright added: “We are delighted that Liz and her team at Cell Regeneration Ltd have chosen to continue supporting us and our students in this way.

"Donations like this are vital in helping the foundation to continue delivering the support that is life-changing for these young people and offers them the chance of a brighter future.”
