A local radio station is giving away free radios to residents who are isolated and alone.

NLive Radio secured the radio sets from The Radio Hub thanks to local lottery funding.

The station was originally given 10 radios, of which there are a couple left to be given away, to help those in need by giving them the companionship that a radio can often provide.

These radios are intended to go to individuals and families across the town who do not have a radio, and would benefit from the ability to listen to NLive to find out local news and information, as well as the friendly voices of our volunteer presenters.

Station Manager Martin Steers said: “We’re passionate about the town and being your local radio station, we want to support our community, especially those who are lonely and isolated during these challenging times.”

As the giveaway has been popular, bosses are now also looking into securing more funding and donations so that more radios can be handed out, with local partners as well.
